Do I need to be a martial artist to learn self-defense?

No.  Self-defense is a part of the martial arts, but a martial arts style includes a variety of other components.  Therefore, you can learn self-defense even if you have never trained before.  See our Training Tips Section for more information.

How do I train in self-defense?

Where do Grandmaster Crandall or Chief Instructor Stalloch instruct classes?

Both Grandmaster Crandall and Chief Instructor Stalloch regularly instruct classes at the main location of the American Martial Arts Institute in Utica, New York.  However, they both also teach at the full-time Albany location of the American Martial Arts Institute at various times throughout the year.

Why can’t I access my videos after I navigate away from the checkout confirmation page?

It is important to remember that you must save your downloaded files immediately before navigating away from the checkout confirmation page.  Click the “Download Now” button.  Then choose to “Save” each file.  Once you have done this for all of your files, you may safely navigate to a different page.  Unfortunately, if you navigate away from the page without saving or simply open the files but do not save them, those files are lost.  We have no way to verify that you have or have not saved those files.  See our terms of use for more information.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

Where should I save my videos?

If you are downloading directly to a mobile device, then you can store the videos directly on that device.  However, if you are downloading to a computer, be sure that it is the computer you will use to learn the techniques.  If you download the videos to a computer at work you may not be able to access them at home.  See our terms of use section for more information.  We recommend that you create one folder on your computer for all of your SecureLivingOnline videos and files.

How do I know which techniques I have already downloaded?

Each technique has an item number for our catalog.  After the video’s introduction, a screen appears with the name of the technique.  In the lower right hand corner of this screen you will see a number.  For example, 03-002.  This identifies which techniques you have already downloaded.  This lets you compare the item numbers of techniques you have yet to download
